Bite Problems in Leamington Spa

If you often wake in the mornings feeling less than refreshed or with head or neck ache, it could be a sign that you are clenching or grinding your teeth during the night. Perhaps you have sensitive teeth or you can see they’re wearing down and making you look prematurely old ! Or, maybe you are breaking the corners off your teeth from around big, old fillings ?

If any of this sounds familiar, ask principal dentist, Chris French about the solutions available; from simple acrylic bite appliances to equilibration, which involves minute corrections of the biting surfaces of the teeth to allow them to fit together more harmoniously. Within Dentistry this topic is called ‘The Occlusion’ and lots more information can be found at

Bite problems and sleep disorders

There are more than 80 recognised sleep disorders, and one of the most common is bruxism (teeth grinding or clenching).

True bruxism is a habit that affects only around 8-10% of the population, but almost everyone clenches or sqeezes their teeth together during stressful periods . Sometimes the exact way our teeth meet can be enough to start the habit. In all these situations the forces exerted through the teeth can cause tooth wear or breakage, generalised sensitivity, disorders of the jaw joint (pain and limited movement) and headaches in the temple regions on waking and a whole host of other signs and symptoms.

Bruxism is sometimes associated with obstructive sleep apnoea. Sleep apnoea is a medical condition that causes the airway to close completely, preventing snorers from breathing.

If you suffer from bite problems, headaches, muscle tension and grinding, please speak to us about bruxism solutions.
